Stay and Play @ Greenwood United Reformed Church

About us

The group is run by members of the church who all have an extensive background in Early Years Education and childcare.  Together we bring many years’ practice of creating play experiences that combine learning and fun for children and parents alike.

We are governed by the churches safeguarding policy (click here to view) and  all have enhanced DBS checks.  Other volunteer helpers are recruited under guidance of our safeguarding policy.  We undertake regular risk assessments.

We charge £1 per each person ( adult or child)

We aim to provide:

  • A safe and caring environment which nurtures friendships
  • Activities and resources that encourage the physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual development of young children and their carers
  • Ideas and inspiration for activities to undertake at home to continue learning

To ensure this we ask that:

  • Parents/carers participate fully in the activities provided, following their child’s lead
  • Children are encouraged to be always kind to each other
  • Parents/carers help to ensure that their child’s actions do not affect other children's enjoyment of the session
  • Parents/carers respect each other and treat anything that is said or overheard in confidence
  • Parents/carers abide by our no smoking, shouting, swearing or smacking policy
  • Parents/carers do not use their mobile phones whilst on the premises
  • Parents/carers ensure that their child has suitable clothes for outdoor play – wellies are advisable!
  • Parents/carers make themselves aware of the actions required by our risk assessment
